今回は、中央アジアのトルクメニスタンより、
砂漠の中にポツンと口を開けたガスクレーターの「地獄の門」
50年以上前、掘削調査中に地面が陥没
有毒ガスが発生したため火を放ってところ、以来、ずっと燃え続けているそうです
1枚目の真ん中に小さく人が写っています
幅は70mほど、規模感が分かるかと
広大な砂漠の中にあるのですが、
夜になると真っ暗闇に赤黒く浮かび上がるのでどこにあるのか1㎞先でもわかるといわれています
このときは現地ガイドを雇って、このガスクレーターの目の前でキャンプして一泊しました…
なかなか思い出深い
業火の燃える音がBGMでした

The Darvaza gas crater, also called ‘the Door to Hell’, located in Darvaza villge in Turkmenistan’s Karakum Desert, is said that it's been burning with toxic gus more than 50 years since the survey for trenching survey. You see that a person is standing at the ridge of the crater at the central point of 1st photo. It's about 30m deep and 70m across. It's so incredible!
