Spiš Castle (Spišský hrad), Slovakia
The medieval ruins of Spiš Castle (Spišský hrad) in eastern Slovakia is one of the largest castle sites in Central Europe, situated above the town of Spišské Podhradie and the village of Žehra, in the region known as Spiš. It's designated as the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1993.
It's said that the castle was destroyed in a fire In 1780 after the last owners of the Spiš Castle abandoned the castle in the early 18th century because they considered it too uncomfortable to live in.
Anyway, this is a photo of the castle with sunrise. I took it from the parking lot that I stayed overnight in my rental car. The 2nd photo is the view of the field in the dawn light, in front of the castle.
