This can generally be seen only 1 month like from mid-April to mid-May, when the water level in the lake increases. This is the landscape of Shirakawa lake with Mt. Iide capped snow, sometimes called 'Tohoku Alps', from a hill overlooking the lake, at around 6:30 in the morning. The morning mosit had gone already at that time. There are the submerged forest lakeside as you see. But unfortunately I could not catch the morning mist view at that time around 7 o'clock in the morning. The morning mist had gone already. So this photos are the view of the lake at around 7:00-7:30 in the morning. Shirakawa Lake, Iide town, Yamagata pref, Japan 水没林の写真を見て一目ぼれして、 ただちに駆け付けた山形県飯豊町（いいでちょう）の「白川湖」 水没林とは、雪解け水がダム湖である白川湖に流れ込んで、 この時期だけ水位が上がることで新緑のシロヤナギがまるで水から生えているような神秘的な現象が見られること わずか1か月だけの期間限定で 今年は暖かかったので見ごろが前倒しになっていると噂を聞いてて駆け付けました！ 夜明け前後の早朝だけに起こる、湖面の圧倒的な気嵐 水没林を包み込んで、まるで日本画を見てるような実に幻想的な風景が広がっていました…（ため息） photo on May 12 2023 ⁠ This is the submerged forest of Lake Shirakawa, located in Iide town, the remote area of Yamagata prefecture, Japan.
