曹洞宗の総本山・永平寺

福井県の山奥に荘厳な僧院が建っていました

禅を規律とする仏教なので
きらびやかさはありませんが、
ただならぬ空気と格式と厳かさが漂っています

入口から定められた順路で各拝殿や建物を回る参詣の仕方ははじめてでした

そしてさすが総本山、
修行僧の方と頻繁にお会いできますが、
決して写真に撮ってはいけないのがちょっと残念です

Daihonzan-Eiheiji, means "The Temple of Eternal Peace", is one of the two head temples of Soto Zen Buddhism. It is located deep in the mountains far from Fukui City in Fukui prefecture, a part of Hokuriku region. This temple was founded by Zen Master Dōgen in 1244. This is a place to perform Zen monastic practice for young monks of Soto Zen all over Japan.

We are not allowed to take a photo of monks in the temple.
