埼玉県熊谷駅からほど近いところにある「石上寺（せきじょうじ）」

早咲きの八重桜「熊谷桜（くまがいざくら）」が満開とニュースで聞いて訪れたものの、先日の強風と大雨で若干散り気味でした

とはいえ、雨露に濡れた桜も風情があってまだまだ美しかった…

本堂横に立っていた像は当寺を開山した栄光上人だろうか

Sekijo-ji temple is located in Kumagaya city, Saitama prefecture, 15 minitus walk away from JR Kumagaya station. It's about time to see a cherry blossom in full-bloom named 'Kumagai zakura', which is one of the Early-bloom cherry blossoms in Japan. But unfortunately I thought it was a little over the best time to see because of strong wind and heavy rain these days. Anyway it was still stunning.
