日本が誇る世界自然遺産の一つ、北海道・知床
7月は熊出没率が高いため、専門ガイドの同伴必須ですが、
8月以降は出没率が少し下がるため、ガイド同伴はあくまで任意
とはいえ、せっかくなので専門ガイドと一緒に回ってみました
やっぱり個人で漠然と回るより、見どころ・ポイントがよくわかって、しかも安心安全で効率いいですね
この日は熊には出没しなかったですが、2日前は4頭も現れたそう
一度散策路に現れると観光客は否応なく全員撤退⇒散策路閉鎖になるらしく、現れて欲しいような欲しくないような……複雑な心境でした…

5枚目は枝の間にいた日本最大のキツツキ、天然記念物のクマゲラ
6枚目は熊の爪痕
知床ではヒグマに遭うよりもクマゲラに遭遇する方が稀少だそうです
でも、正直、ヒグマ見たかったなぁ

Shiretoko Goko (Shiretoko Five Lakes) are a set of five small lakes formed by the eruption of Shiretoko mountain range long time ago, located in Shiretoko peninsula, Shari town, the easternmost of Hokkaido, where is designated as the UNESCO World natural heritage in Japan. There are precious flora & fauna, at the same time this area is also famous as the most dangerous place to meet wild HIGUMA( Brown Beers). So tourists must accompany with the nature guide until July of the highest risk to encounter beers, but after August not always need to accompany with the guide up to you.
But I highly reccomend to accompany with the guide because the guide tour is so interesting and very safe for beers, never waste time for us.

2nd photo is the 1st lake.
3rd photo is Elevated boardwalk.
4th photo is a deer standing lakeside.
5th photo is a Kumagera (Black woodpecker) bird on the branch, which is a national natural treasure.
6th photo is claw mark of brown beers left on its tree.
